| June 17, 2025 | 0 Comments

PROTESTERS outside the Thai Consulate General on Larchmont Boulevard.

On June 11, 2025, a member of the China Democracy Party (CDP), Zhou Junyi, was arrested in Thailand. His arrest was reportedly ordered by the Chinese Embassy of Thailand, located in Bangkok. The embassy is the official diplomatic program of China within Thailand. However, Zhou now risks forced deportation to China.

In response to Zhou’s arrest, a small group of protesters congregated outside the Royal Thai Consulate General on 611 N. Larchmont Blvd. on June 17, 2025. They held signs displaying Zhou’s face and a banner reading, “Stop the deportation of CDP member Zhou Junyi! Protect his life and safety.” The protesters shouted in both Thai and English, “Don’t deport Zhou Junyi!”

The protest started around 11 a.m. and lasted about an hour before the protesters left the Consulate General site.
