Wood elected as new JLLA president

Leanna Wood is the new president of the Junior League of Los Angeles as of June 1. Her position, part of the JLLA’s Management Council, directs the daily operations and activities across nine constituent councils.
JLLA PRESIDENT Leanna Wood will serve on the nonprofit’s management council.
Wood joined the Junior League of Washington in 2012 and relocated to L.A. in 2018. In a message on the organization’s website, Wood introduced the theme for the upcoming year: “101: Building the Foundation for the Next 100 Years.”
“The League’s next chapter will be shaped by the women who choose to invest their time, talents, and leadership today,” she wrote. “I am optimistic about what we can accomplish together this year.”
Throughout her League service, she has held leadership roles across communications, finance, fundraising, and governance, including communications vice president, treasurer, and Centennial associate chair of Donor Cultivation and fundraising. As treasurer, she led initiatives and served in leadership roles with the Junior League of Washington, including vice chair of the Literacy Lab Committee and chair of the Done in a Day Committee.
She is also involved with the Library Foundation of Los Angeles through the Young Literati.
Professionally, she is the executive vice president of research operations at National Research Group, where she leads a global team of 90 employees across five countries. She holds a bachelor of arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
Outgoing president is Dawn Eash Wazzan.
Founded in 1926, JLLA is the Los Angeles chapter of the international nonprofit Junior League. The organization’s mission is to “advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.”
JLLA partners with local nonprofit organizations to help communities in the L.A. area.
