Register now for Wilshire Softball’s girls’ fall League
The Wilshire Softball League recently wrapped up its All-Star season in which teams played in tournaments around Southern California. “We did pretty well overall,” said league president Rachel Capata.
Girls wishing to play in the Fall league, which runs from September through November, can sign up now, added Capata.
Established in 2002, Wilshire Softball has become the premiere girls’ fast-pitch league in the Hollywood-Mid City area. There are no territorial limitations, so anyone can play.
“Last year, we had more than 200 girls from 50 different public and private schools,” said Capata.
Run by an all-volunteer staff, managers attend mandatory coaching clinics led by professionals, and are certified by the Amateur Softball Assoc. The league also offers players’ clinics run by the coaches and athletes of area schools, including Marlborough and Immaculate Heart.
The program offers four divisions for girls ages six to 14, and plays at Lemon Grove and Queen Anne Parks.
