‘Bollywood’ theme will bring the bling to Lucerne Blvd. block party

Dancers, a movie on a jumbo screen, a henna art contest and lots of bling are on the agenda at the Bollywood-themed Lucerne Block Party on the 500 block of S. Lucerne Blvd., Sun., Oct. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m.

A bouncy house and climber castle will be available for children. Also featured will be an egg toss, basketball and ping pong at the 41st annual event that began in 1978.

Participants will be asked to assemble “good blessing bags” containing toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, sanitizer and socks to distribute to the homeless.

Committee members are Kiel Fitzgerald, Leena Dunn, Peggy Davis, Christine Meyer, Wendy Abshez, Jeesung Kang, Robyn Jameson, Helen Hartung, Ellen and Eva Shallman, Marnie Owens, Sandy Nasseri, Michele Asselin, Cathy White, Cathy Acres, Sari Shaw, and Susan Perlman.

Refreshments range from burgers, veggie wraps, samosas and drinks from Miller’s Lemonade Stand. Cost is $25 early bird /per person;  $30 per person at the door.
