More than 250 people, including over 100 children, filled the 900 block of S. Windsor Blvd. on Nov. 8, for the Windsor Village Association’s Community Block Party—the community’s first block party in a decade.

After four months of planning, the party started with a DJ, taco cart, bouncy house, face painter, balloon artist, a wine and garden labyrinth and a pie-baking contest.

A dozen dogs competed for prizes in fastest sit, the friendliest and other categories. The two top winners were Atticus (owner Louis Changchien) and Paco (owner Julie Grist).

The first-prize winner in the baking contest was a traditional Canadian Prairie baked by Block Party committee member Holly Holyk.

The Windsor Village Association honored Suzanne Wilton and Joanne McKenzie for their four years of service on the Country Club Park, Wilshire Park, Windsor Village Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Board.

Guests Councilman David Ryu and his chief of staff Sarah Dusseault, who brought her son Cale, and senior lead officer Hebel Rodriguez also joined in the festivities meeting the residents and talking to them about their community.

After the party ended, guests left with one question on their mind: “When is the next block party?”
