COUNCIL DISTRICT 13 forum participants are introduced by Windsor Square Association president Larry Guzin, top center, and include: moderator / interviewer Mike Murphy, upper right, and candidates, from left, middle row: Kate Pynoos, Mitch O’Farrell and Hugo Soto-Martinez; and, bottom row: Steve Johnson and Albert Corado.

An online Council District 13 Candidate Forum was held on the evening April 4, 2022. Moderated by interviewer and Windsor Square resident, Mike Murphy — Co-Director of the Center for the Political Future at USC — the event was jointly sponsored by the Larchmont Boulevard Association, the Larchmont Village Neighborhood Association and the Windsor Square Association. The full program was recorded and is available online at https://windsorsquare.org/recording-of-the-cd13-candidate-forum-april-4-2022/.

For the primary election to be held June 7, there are four challengers running to unseat incumbent councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, who is seeking election to a third and final allowable term of office. All five candidates participated in the hour-and-a-half program.

O’Farrell’s challengers are: community organizer Albert Corado; deputy sheriff / educator Steve Johnson; homelessness policy advisor Kate Pynoos; and labor / community organizer Hugo Soto-Martinez.

More about Murphy is available from his USC biography (bit.ly/3JhO2vo). A longtime political consultant, Murphy and fellow campaign veteran, David Axelrod, discuss American politics twice a week on their podcast, Hacks on Tap: hacksontap.com.
