Summer book salute, party

It clearly was a “locals” party, with the featured guests all being authors from nearby and about 200 total viewers gathered around Zoom screens to learn about suggested summer reading, for kids, teens and adults.

Billed as a salute to our local bookstore, Chevalier’s Books, as it slowly reopens, the host and moderator was John August.

August is a novelist and screenwriter known for films including “Charlie’s Angels,” “Big Fish” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and for his novels featuring character Arlo Finch.

The participating authors, in addition to August, were Stuart Gibbs, Leslie Margolis, Aline Brosh McKenna, Thomas Lennon, Sarah Mlynowski, Julie Buxbaum, Kayla Cagan and Julia Claiborne Johnson. Their selections and more information about the authors are at: chevaliersbooks.com/local-authors-060620
