Marion Plato’s dedication to the NGA – Needlework Guild of Hancock Park has earned her the 2015 Marion S. Bettle National Award.

It is given to one NGA member in the nation each year who has furthered the mission of NGA through active participation, dedication and involvement.

Marion served as president from 1995 to 1997 and from 2000 to 2001. In addition, she has served as project chair, membership chair and hospitality chair among other positions. She has overseen the purchase of thousands of items to be delivered to the agencies the branch supports.

Since Marion joined NGA, the branch has transitioned from a group of 50 to more than 90 members, and serves seven different agencies and raised $50,000 at its benefit this year. Marion is known for boundless energy and putting her heart into all she does.

She has proven to be an example to everyone about how to “get it done, get it done quickly, and get it done on a budget.”
