CONSUL GENERAL of Japan in Los Angeles Kenko Sone, (seated at left) with Mrs. Sone, center, and Vice Consul Miyabi Shimada, visited Larchmont Charter High School. Back row, left to right, are students Madeline Garcia and Kimberly Sayapan-Singh, teacher Stacey Mahony, student Gus Sepenuk and school principal Mike Kang.

Larchmont Charter High School (LCS) received a visit from the Consul General of Japan, Kenko Sone, and his wife, Mami Sone, on Sept. 19. The consular residence is in Hancock Park, and the consul general saw an article in the August 2024 Larchmont Chronicle reporting on Larchmont Boulevard fundraising for a future trip students will take to Japan. He reached out to the school, saying he wanted to meet and talk about his home country to LCS students who went on a previous trip.
