“The Paper” NBC’s Office spinoff announced.

In what came as a pleasant surprise to the Larchmont Chronicle, NBC/Universal gave a first look of their new series, a spinoff of The Office titled The Paper, which is set in the world of a local newspaper in Toledo, Ohio. The mockumentary will follow the local paper as it tries to survive in a world that is focused on mobile and digital news. “Oscar” from The Office is the only announced returning character from the original show. The show will premiere in September and will hope to achieve the same success with the same producing group who brought us The Office. Over here at the Chronicle, we will be keeping an eye on how “realistic” the show is and how they will present the ups and downs of running a local newspaper.

This announcement comes at a time when the California legislature has 2 bills in front of them to preserve local newspapers and the access of those neighborhoods to news that is timely and relative to their lives. We hope that the continued coverage will help shed light on the important work we do at the Chronicle.
