Protests continue in DTLA.

| June 8, 2025 | 0 Comments

As a response to ICE raids throughout the city, protesters gathered downtown to express their discontent with the enforcement actions taken by the Federal government. Karen Bass released a statement on which she said, “Deploying federalized troops on the heels of these raids is a chaotic escalation.” The federal government has deployed National Guard troops to help quell any violence. Chronicle staff on the ground commented that there didn’t seem to be a unified message among the protesters and many of the protesters were chanting “kill yourself” to the police and National Guard.

The 101 freeway was closed for a period of time as protesters entered the freeway lanes. Many scooters and pieces of cement were thrown on to police vehicles on the freeway from the overpass above. There were many instances of vandalism and spray painting. Five Waymos were set on fire and completely destroyed. This is a breaking story and the Larchmont Chronicle has had reporters on the scene for many hours.
