Wilshire Rotary Club serves the world

We all know the quality of a gift is not judged by its value, and certainly many gifts without value are priceless. I mention this because of the range of gifts Rotarians are delivering today. From a cup of clean water in an African village to the restoration of the oldest public school destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. We at Wilshire Rotary, along with 1.2 million other Rotarians, are part of the solution to the world’s problems, big and small.

Students returning to local high schools this month can look for-ward to Rotary Scholarships. Every third grader in seven local elementary schools will receive their own illustrated dictionary from Wilshire Rotary. August is also the month when American students sponsored by Rotary leave for a year of education in a foreign country, and many local Rotarians welcome a foreign student into their home for a year.

Rotary has endless opportunities to improve the lives of our fellow man here in our community and around the world. The Rotary International President, Sakuji Tanaka said, “We know that every one of us has something to give, and every one of us has something to teach.” You and I have a responsibility – Wilshire Rotary makes it easy and fun for all of us to fulfill our responsibilities. Start by being my guest at a Wednesday lunch at the historic Ebell. Great folks, fabulous food, a captivating speaker, and I’ll get you out the door in 90 minutes. Call me (323) 646-0350
