Bindi Irwin took home the mirror ball trophy at the finale of Dancing With the Stars, hosted Nov. 24 by The Grove. The 17-year-old wildlife conservationist inspired viewers from the start of the show’s 21st season with her bubbling enthusiasm as she and her partner, pro Derek Hough, performed seemingly flawless tangos and fox trots.
The show opened with a high-energy performance aboard The Grove’s trolley and moved to a stage covering the shopping-and-entertainment mecca’s dancing fountain. A 100-foot, lit Christmas tree and snow falling on the crowd made for a magical, holiday scene.
Coming in second was Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his partner Sharna Burgess, while Army National Guardsman and hero Alek Skarlatos and pro Lindsay Arnold came in third. While on a recent trip to Europe, Skarlatos and his two friends stopped a gunman on a Paris-bound train.
