Scientists, executives, actors inspire seniors

SENIORS FROM Marlborough’s class of 2015 tossed their caps last year after graduating.

This year is Larchmont Charter’s first graduating class, plus an actor, a Fox executive and scientists are among area commencement speakers for this year’s graduating classes.

Rita Tuzon, executive vice president and general counsel at Fox Network Group, addressed 100 Marymount High School seniors May 27 at their on-campus graduation ceremony.

Eighty-four Buckley seniors selected their long-time math teacher and senior class advisor, Sue Sherman, as speaker for their May 28 commencement. She has been at Buckley for 30 years and also is a California Interscholastic Federation winning tennis coach and upper school dean.

Immaculate Heart’s 113 graduates heard Karie Huchting, Ph.D. May 31 at the Hollywood Bowl. Dr. Huchting is a 1996 Immaculate Heart alumna and assistant professor in quantitative research and educational leadership at Loyola Marymount University.

Marlborough’s 80 seniors will accept their diplomas on the newly expanded Booth Field at the school Thurs., June 2.

Loyola High School’s 308 graduating seniors will hear Rick Caruso, the school’s board chairman, and who is the owner of The Grove, give the commencement address Sat., June 4 at the school’s Venice Blvd. campus.

Mark Brooks, departing head of school at Pilgrim, will address 21 seniors in the main sanctuary of First Congregational Church Mon., June 6.

Los Angeles High School graduates will number 300 at their commencement ceremony on the campus football field Thurs., June 9.

There will be 400 Fairfax High School seniors accepting diplomas at West Angeles Cathedral Thurs., June 9.

Harvard-Westlake graduates will number 285 at their commencement on the school’s Ted Slavin Field Fri., June 10.

Mark Feuerstein, former member of the school’s board of directors and a current Larchmont Charter parent, will address the first graduating senior class for Larchmont Charter High School at its Lafayette Campus. 43 in all will march across the stage Thurs., June 16 at Glendale Community College. Mark Feuerstein is also known for his work in film and television, including his leading role in the TV series “Royal Pains.”
