HISTORIC Ebell Club will open its doors to the public later this month with an open house.

The doors of the historic Ebell of Los Angeles will be open to the public on Sun., Sept. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 743 S. Lucerne Blvd.

Visitors can enjoy champagne and refreshments while learning about the 124-year-old women’s club. Ebell members will describe the many club activities offered. Among them are a chorale, a writers’ group, book club, art exhibits, bridge games, costume shows, concerts and bi-monthly luncheons.

The club boasts a heritage of service and philanthropic programs as well. These include providing $200,000 in scholarships to several dozen college students and donating $100,000 to 10 non-profit agencies serving women and children each year.

The three-story building, designed by architect John Austin, was built in 1927. It has been the setting for many movies, television shows, weddings and special events.
