Celebration for Purple Line Subway: it’s halfway there

COMMUNITY EVENT takes place June 2 at La Brea Tar Pits.

Enjoy live entertainment, games, raffles, food trucks and a family fun zone at the free Metro Purple Line Extension “Halfway There” event at La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, 5801 Wilshire Blvd., Sun., June 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The party celebrates 50 percent completion of the Purple Line Extensions to Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards.

Guest speakers will include Mayor Eric Garcetti, former County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, District 4 Councilman David Ryu, Metro CEO Phil Washington and Natural History Museum President Lori Bettison-Varga.

On display will be a life-size Metro rail car, a replica of the Rosa Parks bus and a model car from the Petersen Automotive Museum.
